This is me

What does it mean to Be the We?

When faced with the question “Can we (fill in the blank)?”, be the we!

"Be the We" is a mindset that empowers individuals to be proactive in their own growth and development. It means having a curious and inquisitive nature, always seeking to expand your knowledge and skills across multiple subjects, platforms, and tools. It means taking initiative to learn and evolve, constantly seeking new ways to add value to your role. When faced with a challenge, someone who embodies "Be the We" has the knowledge, talent, and skills necessary to deliver results. It's about being proactive and self-motivated in your own personal and professional development.

What I Want

Career Vision & Direction

Chief of Staff / Deputy Athletics Director / Project Manager - Through my 20+ year career on the external side in athletics, coupled with the experience, talent, and skill set(s) developed, I am most attracted to the Project Manager, Chief of Staff, and Deputy AD type roles, which offer responsibility for key areas such as Internal Operations and Communications, Strategic Planning and Initiatives, Innovation, and Project Management.  I am particularly drawn to roles where I can take the lead on projects and initiatives that are critical to the success of the department or organization. My goal is to make substantial contributions that drive the organization forward.

The Listener - As a skilled critical listener, I excel at gathering information and bringing it together to create a cohesive direction for any project. By listening to the wants, needs, and expectations of stakeholders, I am able to craft solutions that take into account both the specific details shared and my own creative ideas. I understand the importance of quick and easy access to information and updates, which is why I prioritize real-time dashboards that can be accessed on desktop and mobile devices. This allows leadership teams to stay informed on current events, hot topics, issues, and project updates, enabling them to make critical decisions with ease.

The Planner - With a systems-minded approach, I view most tasks as projects and have developed a process for managing and organizing them. I use shareable platforms to house my work and employ communication and collaboration tools to facilitate information collection and sharing. I prioritize inclusivity in my work by ensuring that the right people are included in discussions and decisions. Additionally, I strive to provide professional development opportunities for my team by including staff members who have expressed interest in a particular topic or project on relevant projects.

The Doer - I bring a unique balance of both big-picture and detail-oriented thinking to my work. I prefer to spend a significant amount of time researching, learning, designing and preparing, so that others can present the information efficiently. I enjoy understanding how things work and see value in producing tangible work product. In this type of position, I would spend 50% of my time delivering work product in four preferred areas: creative, technical, strategic, and project management. My approach may not be for everyone, but it allows me to make an impact in a meaningful way.
